Mississippi's Top 50 Most Influential
Under the radar. That’s probably the best way to describe Charles Porter’s influence. His firm, GuidePoint, does an intriguing mix of business development and government relations for clients throughout Mississippi.
He spent 25 years as a Licensed Commercial Contractor, Land Developer and Real Estate Broker. He has served as President of the Mississippi Home Builders Association, President of the Jackson Home Builders Association, and President of the Mississippi Housing Institute. Charles served as Chairman of the Board for the National Builders and Contractors Insurance Company and is a member of the Mississippi Housing Hall of Fame.
In addition to GuidePoint, he’s also involved in telehealth venture and a training company. He was also appointed by Governors Fordice, Barbour and Bryant to the Mississippi Home Corporation, where he ultimately served as Chairman of the Board. He is a member of the Governor’s Mississippi Work Force Commission.
One of his real passions is the Blair E. Batson Childrens Hospital at UMC. He has had both a child and a grandchild treated there. He also helped build the first Miracle Home to support that cause.
Mississippi Top 50 is an annual list of the people who are judged to be the most influential leaders in the state. This bipartisan selection of leaders comes from the ranks of elected and appointed officials, economic development professionals, business, media and government affairs. The awards are sponsored by Y’all Politics and Supertalk Mississippi and awardees were nominated through an open process.
