Mississippi’s Top 50 Most Influential
You might say, “Stephen Clay was born for this.” Son of long-time lobbyist, Beth Clay, Stephen grew up around the Capitol and the legislature.
After graduating from Mississippi State University, Clay was employed as a social worker in the mental health field. Even though he had a love for his job, the lobbying world kept calling. After returning to academics to earn his law degree from Mississippi College School of Law, Clay dove into the lobbying arena and is now the Managing Partner of The Clay Firm.
During his nearly 20 years with the firm, Clay has established relationships with Mississippi’s top governmental officials and has earned the trust and utmost respect of Mississippi’s key executives and legislative leaders. He specializes in Mississippi-focused legislative, government relations, grassroots advocacy, and public affairs consulting; affording him the opportunity to work on issues that impact the state he loves so much.
Mississippi Top 50 is an annual list of the people who are judged to be the most influential leaders in the state. This bipartisan selection of leaders comes from the ranks of elected and appointed officials, economic development professionals, business, media and government affairs. The awards are sponsored by Entergy Mississippi, Atmos Energy, Mississippi Farm Bureau, Capitol Resources, Tower Loan and The Payne Group and awardees were nominated through an open process.
