Mississippi's Top 50 Most Influential
Bucky Murphy has been around the Capitol for nearly four decades. He began his lobbying career in 1979, as Director of Government Relations for the Mississippi State Medical Association. After serving in that position for ten years, he founded Corporate Relations Management and has represented numerous associations, corporations, and individuals for the past twenty-nine years.
Bucky has been involved in numerous major policy matters during those 39 sessions, including civil justice reform, education initiatives, and changes in health care delivery.
But his influence at the Capitol is not limited to his own efforts or his own clients. He has helped train many of the people walking the halls, including now his son Camp Murphy, and continues to be a sounding board for numerous lobbyists. He is sought out by most of the lobbying corps and even members for rules questions on a regular basis and serves as one of the people who can give historical perspective on issues.
Mississippi Top 50 is an annual list of the people who are judged to be the most influential leaders in the state. This bipartisan selection of leaders comes from the ranks of elected and appointed officials, economic development professionals, business, media and government affairs. The awards are sponsored by Entergy Mississippi and Mississippi Farm Bureau and awardees were nominated through an open process.
