Rodney is not just a representative; he’s a father, an attorney, and a dedicated Army Infantry Officer with nearly two decades of service under his belt. His commitment to serving his community and country runs deep. His journey in service began at the young age of 17 when he enlisted as a Military Intelligence code linguist in the 20th Special Forces Group, Mississippi Army National Guard. In his role in Recruiting and retention, he helped shape the next generation of patriots, encouraging them to serve alongside him.
In 2008, Rodney was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team, known as “Dixie Thunder.” He had led as an Infantry Platoon Leader, Company Commander, Battalion Operations Officer, and Battalion Executive Officer in the Mississippi Rifles Regiment, where he instilled values like selfless service, duty, honor, integrity, and personal courage in his troops. His time at Army Ranger School taught him invaluable lessons – never fail your comrades, always uphold moral integrity, and have the fortitude to face any challenge in defense of our nation.
Not only has Rodney served in uniform, but he has also served the great citizens of Desoto County in Congress as the Legislative Director for Congressman Trent Kelly (R-MS). As a senior staffer, Rodney was the principal advisor on all legislative matters, with a focus on initiatives within the scope of the House Armed Services, Veteran Affairs, and Appropriations committees.
