Mississippi's Top 50 Most Influential

A native of Senatobia, Trey finished his undergraduate degree in Business from Ole Miss in 2003 where he was a member of the Ole Miss football team and served as a student body Senator.  After finishing college at Ole Miss Trey moved with his wife Jill to Jackson where he obtained his law degree from the Mississippi College School of Law and Jill taught 3rd grade in the Jackson Public Schools.

After law school, Trey moved back to his hometown of Senatobia where he practices law with Lamar & Hannaford, P.A. – the firm that his grandfather Leon Hannaford, Sr. founded in 1958.  In 2008 he obtained an LLM degree in taxation from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.  Trey is rated as an AV preeminent lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell and has been elected as a Mid-South Super Lawyer many times over.

In 2011, Trey was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives where he represents the citizens of House District 8 in the Mississippi Legislature and Chairs the Ways and Means Committee.

Trey and Jill are active members in the First Baptist Church of Senatobia where he has served in the role of Deacon and Jill serves the children and youth ministries and also delivers weekly meals to the shut-ins in their community.  Jill continues to teach 3rd grade and Trey has served in numerous community leadership roles including as a member of the Board of Directors of the Tate County Economic Development Foundation, as a member of the Board of Trustees of Magnolia Heights School and in the Rotary Club of Senatobia.  Finally, Trey and Jill are blessed with 3 amazing children – Ford, John Brantley and Annie – and they moonlight as part time, non-paid ball coaches and glorified uber drivers.

Trey believes that any leadership role starts with serving others – good leaders should believe in their purpose, communicate with conviction, be absolutely committed to truth and always treat others with respect.  We live in the greatest country in the history of the world and public service is a way to give back to the Country that has provided so much freedom and opportunity for our citizens.  Trey is quick to point out that public service often provides lessons in humility and patience, but is also greatly rewarding when you see your efforts help protect freedoms and assist the lives of the people who have trusted you – many times in their hour of great need.  It is truly the honor of a lifetime to serve.
