As one of the quietest forces in the Mississippi Capitol, Nathan Upchurch has worked his way up in state government over the past decade, serving as the main policy and political advisor to Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann and becoming a trusted part of the State Senate. Upchurch currently serves as Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor Hosemann and is an active part of the Senate Accountability, Efficiency and Transparency Committee, Senate Appropriations Committee, Senate Finance Committee, and Senate Rules Committee.
Upchurch previously served Hosemann’s 2019 campaign manager and was the then-Secretary of State’s Chief of Staff prior to making the move with the Lt. Governor in 2020. He has worked his entire career with Hosemann, beginning as a political director in 2011 and then moving on to being a special assistant to the Secretary before taking on the role as Legislative Director in 2013.
