Pascagoula Mayor Dane Maxwell is one of the most influential and well connected mayors in the State of Mississippi.
Maxwell’s access to the White House and Trump Administration, as well as his ability to whip votes and coordinate ground games locally, statewide and even nationally has been noted by the President, Governor and others. Mayor Maxwell has used his connections across the state and in D.C. to help mayors and municipal officials build relationships and have a seat at the table on national policy issues, leading multiple trips to D.C. and coordinating official visits by administration officials here in Mississippi.
Maxwell graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1981, worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding as an Outside Machinist Apprentice, and attended Jackson County Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi. Maxwell served in the US Marine Corps, served 20 years in law enforcement, and created several successful businesses, including Mississippi Security Police which he founded with his brother.
Since becoming mayor in 2017, Maxwell has led the Pascagoula City Council to reorganize and streamline municipal government, cut budgets, and right the city’s teetering fiscal ship. Through his efforts, the EPA advanced and funded a $107 million clean up of a local Super Fund site. He has also been successful in securing other funding for local infrastructure improvements and advocating for local residential incentive legislation. He serves on the Mississippi Municipal League Board of Directors, and is a strong advocate for municipal infrastructure, disaster planning, and public engagement.
