Mississippi's Top 50 Most Influential
Few that are currently in the Mississippi Legislature have had as direct influence in key legislation as has state Senator Joey Fillingane.
Elected service in 1999 as state representative for House District 101, he served in the Mississippi House two terms before successfully running for Senate District 41 where he has served since 2007. He chairs the powerful Senate Finance Committee and sits on many others including Jud A, Jud B and Universities & Colleges.
Fillingane, a practicing attorney for Deep South Title, LLC, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and his law degree at Mississippi College School of Law.
His legislative influence has been seen as the primary author of the state’s Voter ID Initiative, a key promoter of Tort Reform, and the principal author of the largest Tax Relief package in Mississippi history. He has also authored various pro-life legislation that has helped make Mississippi one of the safest places in America for the unborn.
Mississippi Top 50 is an annual list of the people who are judged to be the most influential leaders in the state. This bipartisan selection of leaders comes from the ranks of elected and appointed officials, economic development professionals, business, media and government affairs.
