Mississippi's Top 50 Most Influential
Though he’s not from Mississippi, no one is more synonymous with the Mississippi Coast than Dave Elliott. The longtime newsman is a veteran anchor and hosts one of the only long form TV programs that regularly interviews political and community leaders from around the state. From his coverage of major news events like Hurricane Katrina to coverage of tourism, the entertainment industries and political races, Elliott is a trusted voice for hundreds of thousands of Mississippians.
Before landing on the Coast, Elliott worked at several stations in Jackson before being selected as the co-host of a new television program, PM Magazine on WJTV. After two years Elliott accepted a position at WLOX, The Station for South Mississippi in Biloxi.
The year was 1985 and Elliott began a career as a news anchor, political reporter and feature reporter. Dave gave birth to a segment called Page 13 that allowed him to travel the state and discover fascinating people and places. At the same time he embraced the Mississippi political scene and has interviewed elected officials and participated in many campaign debates.
Today Elliott hosts WLOX’s 4 O’Clock show and WLOX News at 5. He is also co-host of the Sunday Morning political talk show WLOX News This Week.
