Mississippi's Top 50 Most Influential
Joey Deason serves as the executive director of Madison County Economic Development (MCEDA) where he has worked with his team to win new projects and expansions including Vertex Aerospace, Fastenal, Amazon, Clark Beverage, UPS, and most recently, AWS – the largest economic development project in the history of Mississippi at $10 billion.
He began his career with a 17-year stint at General Motors where he focused on mergers and acquisitions. He left GM to work as the CFO for the Mississippi Development Authority with success in landing projects such as Toyota, PACCAR, SeverStal to the State of Mississippi, and operating a $5.6 billion budget. He served as president and CEO for Schulz Xtruded products where his duties included the construction and ramp-up of the $300 million investment with 500 employees. He served as the COO with the Golden Triangle Development LINK with successes including landing projects such as Yokohama Tire and C-Spire.
Mississippi Top 50 is an annual list of the people who are judged to be the most influential leaders in the state.
