Mississippi's Top 50 Most Influential
Over the last year, Byron Brown has ascended as to one of the few TV journalists in the state engaging in political coverage. He is a journalist with over 30 years of experience in television news, and he has been at the center Mississippi history this year, first hosting the 2019 gubernatorial debates and then following the change in state flags.
Brown has been a member of the WJTV 12 News team since January of 2003. He is the evening anchor at 5:00, 6:00, 9:00 and 10:00. Brown has been in Jackson for 17 years, coming to WJTV 12 from sister station WFLA in Tampa, where he served as weekend anchor. He also hosts a weekly political show, Mississippi Insight.
He is very active in the community serving as Honorary Chair for the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi. He has worked many years with JDRF and had been a long time Community Advisory Board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Mississippi Top 50 is an annual list of the people who are judged to be the most influential leaders in the state. This bipartisan selection of leaders comes from the ranks of elected and appointed officials, economic development professionals, business, media and government affairs.
