Mississippi's Top 50 Most Influential
Greg Snowden has a steeped history in Lauderdale County and comes from a long line of legislators. His great-great grandfather and great uncle both held seats in the Mississippi Legislature. Now elected to his fifth term in the Mississippi House, Greg is serving his second as Speaker Pro Tempore ushered in with the Republican takeover in 2011. He has served as co-pilot to Speaker Philip Gunn through his ascension and throughout his tenure and is one of the go-to Legislators to handle the toughest floor actions.
In additions to his Pro Tem duties, he Chairs the House Management Committee, the MS House Republican Caucus and serves on both the Joint Legislative Budget Committee and the House Rules Committee. Practically, that means he’s one of about 5 House members that must be on board for legislation to pass.
You’ll regularly hear Snowden on Supertalk and see him quoted regularly taking a central role in explaining Republican House policy.
Recognized nationally for his leadership, Greg serves on the Executive Committee of the Southern Legislative Conference (SLC) and on the Leadership Council of the Council of State Governments (CSG). He formerly served on the Executive Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL).
